Rigidity Theorems for Lattices in Lie Groups

In this talk I will give a broad overview of rigidity theorems for lattices in Lie groups.

Mostow Rigidity and Beyond

We will introduce Mostow rigidity and outline its proof. We will also explain how the idea can be generalized to quasi-isometry rigidity as well as volume entropy rigidity. Volume entropy rigidity for rank-1 Riemannian manifolds is known: a theorem of Besson-Courtois-Gallot says that the locally symmetric metrics attain minimal volume entropy among all Riemannian metrics. We will give a brief outline of their proof.
