How to Scan at the Math department

Scanning on the third floor copiers

Scanning on the fifth floor copier

Scanning Exams:

You have to choose 'Workflow scanning' before you put the document in the feeder, or else it will take you to regular scanning. If it has already taken you to the other scanning menu, just hit the 'menu' button on the console and then choose 'Workflow Scanning'.

Before putting the document in the feeder, choose 'Workflow Scanning.'

There is a 'DEFAULT' workflow, which is actually NOT working. You will want to choose 'exam 1-sided' or 'exam 2-sided'

Place the document in the feeder, face up, with the top away from you. The edge in the feeder should be the left edge of the page.

Hit 'scan' on the screen. It's in the upper-right corner, but it is on the screen, not one of the buttons.

The document will scan.

It takes about 30 seconds, which can seem like a long time, and then it will appear in the /scans/scanner03 folder on the computer.

If the folder window is already open, hit the blue 'reload' icon at the top of the window to update the view.

Your scan will appear as scan-_20220516140220.pdf where the numbers are the date and time. We can customize the filenames if you'd like something better than this, but I left it alone because each workflow has separate settings.

The idea of the 'workflow' is that it will save the settings for a specific task. The settings that are there are a starting point, if you want it to be greyscale or higher DPI, or any other changes, I can change the settings for you in the default workflows so they're best for exams. If you have settings that you want for a different purpose, we can create a new workflow.

If you need to adjust the setttings when you're scanning, you can adjust them on the screen and get them just how you would like them. Make a note of these settings, because they won't be saved in the workflow, but we can update the workflow settings to automatically have the settings that work best for instructors.
